A special day dedicated to discovering the European pond turtle (Emys orbicularis) and other reptiles that inhabit the Piedmont region. To mark World Turtle Day, the Parco Pallavicino Education Centre will host a themed event designed to introduce children and families to the world of reptiles—often little known, yet of great ecological importance. Participants will be accompanied by the Park’s biologist, who will lead the activity with a clear and engaging introductory presentation. Through stories, scientific curiosities and explanations accessible even to younger children, visitors will have the chance to get to know our native European pond turtle more closely, understand its characteristics and habits, and explore the challenges linked to its conservation. The experience will then continue with the observation of images and natural specimens, offering a closer look at other reptiles from Piedmont and a deeper understanding of their adaptations, behaviours and role within local ecosystems. A valuable opportunity to dispel myths, learn about these species and appreciate how important they are for the balance of nature.
