Museum Guide – Visitor Assistant

The activity involves assisting and accompanying both Italian and international tourists, in groups or individually, during guided tours inside the museum and botanical structures of Terre Borromeo, particularly on Isola Bella and Isola Madre on Lake Maggiore.
Among the tasks to be performed are also those related to welcoming and receiving visitors. During working hours, within the exhibition spaces and the areas belonging to the residences, the employee may be required to carry out control, supervision, and surveillance services to protect the museum’s heritage. When necessary, availability will be required to perform all activities connected to public access, such as distributing informational and promotional materials and participating in special events. A knowledge of at least two foreign languages in addition to Italian is essential, chosen among the following: German, French, English, Spanish, Russian. Knowledge of an additional foreign language may be considered an advantage.
When needed, the employee must be available to use radio guide systems provided by the company. The role reports hierarchically to the Head of Guides. Concerning the contents to be presented to visitors, the activity will be coordinated and organized by the Curator of the Terre Borromeo Museum Heritage. The candidate must be available to work in a team.

 

Educational background: no specific degree is required, but a good general and linguistic education is essential.
Experience: previous work experience in moderately complex organizational systems in contact with the public, regular use of foreign languages, and familiarity with historical/cultural environments is important.

 

Personal skills: customer-oriented attitude, flexibility, ability to manage groups of visitors, stress tolerance. Excellent communication and engagement skills are essential for conveying knowledge about the Terre Borromeo sites.
Availability to work on shifts 6 days per week (daytime hours), on weekends and holidays, with the possibility of rotation among all the sites under the Terre Borromeo brand (Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Rocca di Angera, Parco Pallavicino).
