The first ski courses start at Mottarone

The ski season at Parco del Mottarone officially opens tomorrow, 10 January. The first area to open will be the beginner’s zone, with plans to extend access to the baby slope on Sunday. Ski and snowboard courses organised by Scuola Sci Stella Alpina will begin. They are aimed both at beginners and children trying for the first time, as well as those who wish to improve their technique. For them a new magic carpet lift has been installed, especially favouring young beginners by offering a gentler gradient.

The new structure is part of investments undertaken by SAG Srl, the company managing the sites of Terre Borromeo, including Parco del Mottarone. Major works include the creation of a snow-making system designed to cover all slopes thanks to the mountain’s ring-shaped layout. The system will enter operation when temperature and humidity conditions reach optimal levels. In addition there are two new snow-cannons, two new snow-lances and the resurfacing of the road in the summit car-park, all aimed at further improving visitor hospitality.

Everything is ready for experiencing the mountain’s thrilling atmosphere. The ski school offers private lessons in ski or snowboard (up to four participants) or group lessons with participants of the same level. Prices and times allow maximum flexibility to meet individual needs. Among the season’s promotional packages, there are Weekend group courses from 11 January and from 15 February (€149, skipass included), on Saturday or Sunday, morning or afternoon for a total of 8 hours.

Online you can comfortably purchase and reserve services of Parco del Mottarone:
- the platform skipass.mottarone.it for purchasing and topping up skipasses;
- the booking site of Scuola Sci Stella Alpina for reserving ski and snowboard lessons.

The skipass can also be purchased at the ticket office beside the beginner’s area. A few steps away you’ll find the Scuola Sci Stella Alpina and Skirent for renting full ski and snowboard equipment, as well as toboggans and snowshoes.

To add warmth and calories to a crisp day, the restaurant Rifugio Genziana serves the authentic flavours of mountain cuisine, especially from Val d’Ossola. Classic dishes with a playful twist, such as traditional polenta Beura, and indulgent desserts delight the palate. All this with a spectacular view of Monte Rosa from the natural terrace outside—before the last descent of the day.
