In a strategic position to control traffic through the area, the historiographical tradition associates the events of Angera with the Visconti family and its consolidation after the victory in the Battle of Desio in 1277, celebrated in the frescos of the Sala di Giustizia.

The opening of the 2025 season is scheduled from 15 March to 2 November 2025.
From 15th March to 25th October
Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. (last entrance) – Castle closing at 06:00 p.m.
From 26th October to 2nd November
Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. (last entrance) – Castle closing at 05:00 p.m.

• Isola Bella: Saturday, September 6, early closure for private event (ticket office and last entry at 12:00 PM, palace closed at 12:30 PM, garden at 1:00 PM)
