Distribution and habitat

Humid and cool climates. Native to the eastern United States.

 

Description

Characterized by rapid growth, it can reach a height of about 40 meters. The leaves are deciduous, with 2 pronounced lobes at the base and a truncated apex, and turn bright yellow in autumn. The flowers are yellow-greenish, large and solitary, and appear on plants at least 15 years old.

 

Uses and cultivation

Cultivated as an ornamental and timber plant in suitable climates, it requires sun and humidity.

 

Curiosity

Called the tulip tree because of its tulip-like flowers of yellow-green color.
